Jon Jones was not best pleased after being snubbed for the title of MMA’s ‘baddest man’ by an old rival.

Back in November at UFC 309, Jones knocked out Stipe Miocic in an historic main event at Madison Square Garden. However, the dominant victory wasn’t enough to have the legendary two-time champion back his old rival to beat Francis Ngannou in a battle of the world’s ‘baddest men’.

Miocic has shared the octagon with both Jones and Ngannou over the years, even handing the Cameroonian a devastating decision loss at UFC 220. He has been knocked out by both, although the one against Ngannou in 2021 was considerably more devastating.

Stipe Miocic names Francis Ngannou above Jon Jones in ‘baddest man’ battle

Having been able to feel the power of both men as well as throw some big shots of his own, there is nobody more qualified than Stipe Miocic to pick between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. He has spent over half an hour in the cage with them, and gave his take in a recent interview with The Schmo.

“Well Francis, you know, he’s got great power,” Miocic explained. “And he’s getting better every fight. With Jones, he’s good, one of the best of all time if not the best of all time. He’s smart, real tricky but with Francis, he always comes with a good game plan.

“But also he’s got thunder in his fists so that’s a tough fight. I think Jon would keep his distance, he’d do well, get him down to the ground but if Francis connects, all over.”

Francis Ngannou not happy about Stipe Miocic’s Francis Ngannou pick

Perhaps the most controversial part of Miocic’s interview came when he was asked to actually pick who is the ‘baddest man on the planet’. He opted against Jones and went for PFL’s Ngannou, citing his experience against top boxers such as Tyson Fury.

“I mean, I would go Francis,” He replied after being put on the spot by The Schmo. “Just because he’s doing great and with his boxing, I would go with Francis.”

This clearly upset Jones, who took to Instagram to share a disappointed one word response to the call from Miocic. He shared a graphic which indicated the pick, and simply captioned it “Of course.”

There had been a brief feud going into UFC 309, but it seemed to be over after the fight. However, it may be about to reignite given Jones’ reaction to Miocic’s comments.
