Jessica Andrade dropped an enormous amount of weight before her victory over Claudia Gadelha

On September 7, Jessica Andrade will go toe-to-toe with Natália Silva in a crunch flyweight collision.

While having previously won the championship belt in the division below, the 125-pound weight class, makes for a much easier category for ‘Bate Estaca’ to compete in.

Despite winning the belt, Andrade really struggled to hit the 115lbs limit, having to cut an enormous amount to make the weight class.

During the build-up to her encounter with Claudia Gadelha in 2017, the athlete had to drop a whopping 4st 3lbs.

As per the BBC, she said: “For the fight against Gadelha, I actually dropped 60lbs in 32 days.”

While the idea of shedding so much weight is undeniably crazy, Andrade didn’t let it ruin her performance. In all reality, she overcame being an underdog with the bookmakers to win the fight via unanimous decision.

She later added that things have been very different this camp, claiming: “This has been one of my best weight cuts.”

Jessica Andrade wants to fight for the BMF title

Having exhibited frightening power in the cage and also possibly registering the most brutal KO of all time by spiking Rose Namajunas on her head to win the strawweight belt, Andrade believes she deserves the chance to fight for the BMF belt.

The fun title has made waves in the sport, with many of the toughest fighters in the UFC desperate to claim the belt that’s only been worn by Jorge Masvidal, Justin Gaethje and Max Holloway.

However, a woman has yet to have the privilege, and Andrade wants to make history by being the first.

And she has the perfect opponent in mind.
