Israel Adesanya explains how he made history at UFC 305

On Saturday evening, Israel Adesanya fell foul to the phenomenal work rate oDricus Du Plessis in front of a packed house at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.

While the former kickboxing world champion showed flashes of brilliance, he ultimately couldn’t cope with the UFC middleweight King’s relentless engine.

Following the loss, a resilient Adesanya headed to the post-fight press conference to fulfill his media obligations.

However, rather than wallowing in self-pity, the gifted athlete made light of his situation, claiming that he made history on not just one, but two counts.

With a smile on his face, he made a couple of light-hearted jokes, as he took the defeat with grace.

He explained: “I feel like I’ve still made history tonight; I’ve never lost two in a row. I lost my fight in the worst fashion, it’s my first time getting submitted too, another [bit of] history, wow, amazing. I just keep doing it, bro. I'm just f***ing great at this!"

While Adesanya will undoubtedly come back from this setback with a fiery determination to earn another shot at the title he used to own, the New-Zealand based warrior might have a bit of time to wait, as his arch nemesis is eyeing up a shot at the 185-pound throne.

Alex Pereira wants a showdown with Dricus Du Plessis

Having lost his middleweight belt to Adesanya in devastating fashion, Alex Pereira would love a chance at winning back his old crown against Du Plessis.

In a post that sent shockwaves through the internet, ‘Poatan’ took to Instagram to upload a picture of himself watching last night’s main event, with the caption: "Coming down to 185 one more time.”

Unsurprisingly, the target of his call-out is more than happy to oblige him with a super fight.

However, while Du Plessis is willing to give the fans the electrifying contest, he had no problem in revealing that getting the bout over the line rests on one condition.
