After going to war for four rounds, Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis seemingly buried the hatchet on their intense feud.

For months leading up to their eventual clash, the two middleweights were involved in arguably one of the biggest rivalries in recent history — going way beyond just competing inside a cage. A battle between two African's that didn't deem the other to be truly from the continent they called home was the story heading into fight night.

Both men put on a show in the headlining bout at UFC 305, resulting in them gaining a newfound respect for one another. That respect was on full display after the dust settled in Perth, Australia on Saturday.

Humble in defeat and gracious in victory, both Israel Adesanya and Dricus Du Plessis embraced backstage. The pair made amends and Adesanya was later given a gift from the UFC middleweight champion — in the form of the custom-made South African jacket worn by 'Stillknocks' at the press conference.

During the wholesome exchange, 'The Last Stylebender' branded Du Plessis 'an African champion', presumedly putting any animosity he had aside.

What's next for Dricus Du Plessis?

After beating a man many considered to be his toughest matchup in the division, where does Dricus Du Plessis go from here?

The South African has several contenders aiming toward the target on his back. Sean Strickland, the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev, and Robert Whittaker are all viable options for the champion, but there's one standout name who is interested in the challenge.

Following UFC 305, Alex Pereira hinted at returning to the 185 lbs division on social media. Though, 'Poatan' first has a dangerous opponent in Khalil Rountree Jr. to deal with before putting his plans into motion.
