Impressive UFC 305 winner requested a pack of cigarettes after 'smoking' opponent with brutal KO in Perth

At UFC 305 in Perth this past Saturday, impressive welterweight contender Carlos Prates continued his winning ways with an emphatic knockout of Li Jingliang and after the fight, he only had one request.

Following his win on the last season of Dana White’s Contender Series, ‘The Nightmare’ came into the UFC 170lb division as a contender to look out for, riding a seven-fight win streak across multiple promotions.

Carlos Prates had already fought twice this year, beating Trevin Giles and Charles Radtke via finish, and following his win over Radtke, he asked the UFC if he could compete in Australia, because his daughter lives there, giving him a chance to see her during fight week.

Carlos Prates requested a pack of cigarettes following brutal first-round KO

In 27 fights, Li Jingliang has never been knocked out, despite having fought the likes of Khamzat Chimaev, Daniel Rodriguez, and Muslim Salikhov in his last three outings.

That changed this past Saturday, though, as the 31-year-old sharpshooter, Prates, handed him his first-ever knockout loss, with a brutal left hook in the second round.

Following his emphatic win, Prates called out Khaos Williams who is currently on a two-fight win streak.

“I don’t know (why I specifically called him out), I think he’s a good opponent, he’s a striker, to be honest, I almost bought my own house in Brazil so if I don’t get a bonus today, for sure if I fight him maybe in December, I will get a bonus,” Prates stated in the post-fight press conference.

The 31-year-old did in fact win a $50,000 bonus for his KO over ‘The Leech’, though, with him now having a 100% bonus record in his first three UFC fights.

After requesting a fight with Williams, the Brazilian did have another more bizarre request. Following his wins, Prates likes to let his hair down and enjoy it by smoking cigarettes, but he was all out at UFC 305.

“No bro (I’ve not been able to have my celebratory cigarette). I tried to get one cigarette and I have no cigarettes (left),” Prates admitted as he pulled an empty packet out of his pocket.

“I tried to have one after (my fight) but I don’t have any (left). Please, if somebody has one, give me one, please. Especially the ones I smoke, they don’t have anywhere, they don’t have them in America, don’t have them here, that’s why I crave it,” the Brazilian continued.

Carlos Prates is being compared to a young Anderson Silva

Despite only being three fights into his UFC tenure, Prates is already being compared to a young Anderson Silva, which is one of the biggest compliments the Brazilian could wish for.

If ‘The Nightmare’ does get his requested fight against Khaos Williams next and he passes that test, he will likely be very close to the 170lb rankings, where there are several fun matchups awaiting him.

Williams responded to Prates’ callout, saying: “I STAND ON BUSINESS AT ALL TIMES. Be careful what you ask for cause you just might get it and find out this ain’t what you want… IT’S NOT PERSONAL… JUST PUNISHMENT.”
