‘Triple C’ received some criticism after the way that this past weekend’s main event ended in disappointing fashion.

Henry Cejudo recorded his third straight defeat in Seattle after suffering a fight-changing injury that he couldn’t continue from.

Cejudo was beaten by Song Yadong via the scorecards after the fight was stopped in the fourth round following a substantial eye poke in the third.

Despite the fact that it could’ve been declared a no contest if the referee had called it off in the third round, some accused the former bantamweight and flyweight champion of quitting which he disputed with a social media post.

Cejudo detailed his injury and called for a rematch with Song as he looks to overcome this latest setback since making his return to the Octagon in 2023 after a three-year hiatus.

Jim Miller comes out in support of Henry Cejudo following post-Seattle criticism

Whilst some fans took the approach of questioning Henry Cejudo’s willingness to continue fighting, it’s hard to make that argument when you watch the fight back and hear him clearly telling his corner that he can’t see.

A UFC record holder who has made the walk more times than anyone else recently came to the defense of ‘Triple C’ by making it clear that the blame for the end of the main event is being pointed in the wrong direction.

45-fight UFC veteran Jim Miller is seemingly against the idea that mistakes happen and shouldn’t come with repercussions.

‘A-10’ posted a message on social media where he clearly states that fighters should be more heavily penalized for eye pokes considering that this is within their control.

He also reflects on his own experience of being poked in the eye during a fight and how it changed much more than just his performance on the night.

“If only humans could control their fingers, then these accidents wouldn't keep happening… I've been poked twice in fights, and both caused permanent damage to my vision. Will it take someone losing an eye before pokes start being penalized?”

Where does Henry Cejudo go from here?

Henry Cejudo finds himself in a very difficult position right now where his stock has continued to decline.

With Dana White clearly not interested in running this fight back, ‘Triple C’ is going to have to take the loss and move on regardless of the unfortunate circumstances.

Cejudo’s former opponent Demetrious Johnson believes that retirement is next for the former Olympian and that doesn’t appear to be off the cards unless there’s a big fight out there for him.

If the former champ-champ is going to stick around, he needs to get back into the win column by beating a fellow legend and with Jose Aldo in the same weight class, the fight sells itself as a co-main event in Brazil.
