While Islam Makachev has never faced Conor McGregor in the cage, the pair still don’t see eye-to-eye, with the lightweight champion sharing a close relationship with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
The rivalry between the Russian and the Dubliner has solidified its place in the history books as one of the greatest feuds the sport has ever seen.
From McGregor launching a dolly through a bus window, to a memorable press conference, the pair generated enormous hype, culminating in a whopping 2.4 million PPV buys.
The fight itself was a mere exhibition of Khabib’s greatness, with the Dagestani dominating his nemesis en route to a fourth-round neck crack.

However, the tap didn’t end the violence, with the legend jumping the cage and going for McGregor’s teammates. Subsequently, while almost six years have passed, the animosity between the two camps remains just as fierce as it was at the time.
Therefore, with that in mind, it comes as no major surprise that Makhachev has seized his opportunity to fire shots at his friend’s old foe.
Taking to his Instagram stories, he shared a video of the knockout blow in the rematch between the former two-weight champion and Dustin Poirier, with the caption: “I love watching this.”
The devastating loss at UFC 257 deeply angered McGregor, who quickly signed on the dotted line for the trilogy. However, the third fight didn’t end any better, with the icon taking a beating before suffering a broken leg. And now, Nurmagomedov has revealed what he thinks would’ve happened if the injury didn’t occur.
Khabib Nurmagomedov gives his opinion on how Dustin Poirier vs Conor McGregor 3 would’ve concluded without the leg break
Having shared the cage with both McGregor and Poirier, ‘The Eagle’ is in the best possible position to share his thoughts on the two fighters.
While the American gave him more problems, rocking him with a huge shot, and nearly pulling off a guillotine, he survived one round less than the Irishman.
However, Nurmagomedov is convinced that Poirier would have gone on to beat the ex-145-pound and 155-pound King in their trilogy.
He recently delivered a brutal assessment of precisely what he believes would’ve happened had the injury never been sustained.
