Combate Global returned after an eight-month hiatus tonight (Thurs., March 13, 2025) with "Combate Female," an all-female fight card, and it was streamed free on YouTube (watch here).

In the main event, top mixed martial arts (MMA) Flyweight prospect Maritza Sanchez suffered a first-round kneebar submission loss to Kate Bacik in Miami, Florida.

Sanchez dropped Bacik with a straight left within 10 seconds of the fight and nearly finished her with heavy ground-and-pound. Bacik somehow survived, grabbed Sanchez's leg, and worked a kneebar for about two minutes. Eventually, Bacik applied enough torque to Sanchez's knee to force the tap.

Watch the incredible comeback win below:

The loss at Combate Female snapped Sanchez's six-fight winning streak, dropping her professional record to 6-2. The 27-year-old prospect was widely regarded as one of the top female MMA prospects in the U.S. and was expected to make a significant impact in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in the future.

With Sanchez's name now on her resume—a victory that carries weight in the MMA world—Bacik (6-2) returns to the win column after suffering a first-round submission loss in Dec. 2024.
