Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson says Shannon Briggs is too comfortable being the ‘big dog’ in boxing to risk fighting him in MMA.

The pair of rivals have previously agreed to clash in the squared circle, but the UFC legend insists there’s no way ‘The Cannon’ would ever dream of setting foot in his realm.

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson slams Shannon Briggs

Throughout their careers, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Shannon Briggs have cemented their places as two of the best entertainers in combat sports.

Not only are they revered in their respective disciplines for their terrifying power and world title wins, but also for their captivating personalities.

Renowned for his fiery temper, Rampage has given the world many an epic moment, most notably when he smashed through a door with his bare hands while filming The Ultimate Fighter.

Meanwhile, Briggs has caught the attention of the public with his infamous catchphrase, ‘Let’s Go Champ’, and his relentless pursuit of Wladimir Klitschko.

The American boxer followed the legend everywhere, once turning up in a restaurant and tucking into his food, and even going as far as to rock up in a boat while the Ukrainian was trying to have a peaceful day paddleboarding.

The clip of Briggs knocking Klitschko into the water still does the rounds on social media to this very day.

Therefore, a combination of Rampage and The Cannon would make for one of the most captivating build-ups of all time.

The pair originally agreed to a boxing match in Qatar back in June. Alas, the fight never materialized, leaving both men with an itch they still need to scratch.

However, according to the UFC veteran, no matter how much money is on the line, there’s no chance his rival would ever sign on the dotted line to face him in the cage.

In an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow, he said: “I don’t think there’s nothing we can do to convince Shannon Briggs to come and fight me in MMA. He wants to stay in his comfort zone, which is boxing, so he can feel like the big dog. I think even if you offer him $10 million, I don’t think he’d show up.”

Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson reveals whether he’s favoring Frank Mir or Henry Cejudo in ‘NBA of MMA’

While Rampage would revel in the opportunity to get his hands on Briggs, this Friday night, his focus is firmly set on his role as an ambassador for the UFL.

The promotion, which offers health insurance to all athletes on multi-fight contracts, will put on its fifth show, with a special twist.

MMA icons Frank Mir and Henry Cejudo will each coach a team of fighters in an epic five vs five collision.

The former heavyweight world champion will guide Team Vegas into battle, while the ex-flyweight and bantamweight King will take on the reins at Team Phoenix.

In their respective careers, the pair of gifted grapplers have cemented their places as genuine combat geniuses. However, Rampage still believes one of the two men has the edge on the other.
