Whilst Jon Jones is widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, Mike Tyson consistently takes the title of being the most dangerous boxer of all time.
Fighting in different eras and in two different sports, Jon Jones and Mike Tyson don’t usually get brought up in conversation together.
Despite that, UFC CEO, Dana White has forever banged the drum on Jones being the greatest MMA fighter of all time and has always been a huge admirer of ‘Iron Mike’ too.
Ahead of Tyson’s controversial comeback to boxing against Jake Paul last November, the UFC boss never minced his words and stated how he was hopeful of a devastating win for Tyson.
Dana White on who he’d rather fight out of Jon Jones and Mike Tyson
Following his extremely decorated boxing career, Tyson is widely labeled as the most dangerous and vicious boxer of all time, still holding the record for the youngest Heavyweight champion ever.
Similarly, Jones is widely regarded as the greatest mixed martial artist of all time considering his legendary run of beating the likes of Rampage Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Daniel Cormier, and many more.
Despite both being greats in their respective sports, White was asked in a recent interview, who he would rather have to fight in their prime.
White has always been a huge fan of boxing and before becoming the president of the UFC, he competed in boxing at a decent level and was hopeful of making a career out of it.
“Jon Jones is still the best ever,” he began to explain in an interview on talkSPORT MMA.
“(I’d chose peak) Jon Jones all day and I’m the biggest Mike Tyson fan of all time. Oh, who would I least (want to get in the ring with), I don’t want to get in the ring with any of them, I’m 55 years old.
“The answer is neither, I’m not getting in the ring with neither. In my prime when I was young, you don’t want to mess with either one of them. Jon Jones and Mike Tyson are two of the nastiest human beings ever,” he stated.
Dana White comments on Tom Aspinall predicting he’ll beat Jon Jones
At 37 years old, Jones still attempts to remain active in the UFC and reigns over the heavyweight division as the champion. Up next for him, if he doesn’t retire, is a fight against interim champion, Tom Aspinall.
With Jones still unsure whether he wants to defend his title against Aspinall, Dana recently stated that he would strip Jones of the title if he doesn’t fight the interim champion.
Aspinall has remained confident throughout that not only the fight will get made but he will be the first one to legitimately beat Jones.
“I love that in a young, talented, aggressive heavyweight that he actually wants to fight all the best,” White commented on Aspinall’s confidence.
Although there hasn’t been an official date set for that title unification bout, White remains confident that the promotion will be able to get it done for this year.
