Superstar soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo will be in attendance this coming Saturday for the UFC’s second event in Saudi Arabia.
Last June, the UFC finally landed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its inaugural event as Robert Whittaker scored a huge win over Ikram Aliskerov.
After putting excitement back into the sport of boxing, Turki Alalshikh decided to dip his toes in the MMA waters and partnered with the UFC to bring some exciting events to the Kingdom.
He also partnered with the promotion to put on their blockbuster UFC 306 event from the Sphere in Las Vegas.
This coming Saturday, the promotion lands in the ANB Arena as Israel Adesanya takes on Nassourdine Imavov in the main event and Shara ‘Bullet’ Magomedov takes on Michael Page in a huge co-main event.
Cristiano Ronaldo backs Shara Magomedov to become UFC middleweight champ
The undefeated Russian contender has only been able to fight in the Middle East since signing with the UFC because of the fact that he only has one eye.
Ahead of his huge middleweight clash against ‘Venom’ Page, Shara ‘Bullet’ has already decided what he will spend his fight purse on, as he looks to claim his fourth performance bonus.
With the fight taking place in Saudi Arabia, there will likely be several celebrity figures in attendance as there tends to be for the boxing events.
One of which will be superstar soccer player, Cristiano Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabian Football Club, Al Nassr. Ahead of Shara’s fight on Saturday, he and ‘CR7’ met and talked about Magomedov’s chances of becoming UFC middleweight champion.
“I met the whole team but with Ronaldo specifically, I spoke with him for about half an hour. He knows a whole bunch about the UFC, he’s a huge fan, he said he’s gonna be at the fight and he said that I have potential to be the champ,” Magomedov told Michael Bisping during an interview.
Ronaldo has previously spoken about the UFC and questioned UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria’s championship credentials prior to his title defense against Max Holloway.
Does Shara Magomedov have the chance to become middleweight champion?
Shara ‘Bullet’ is currently only ranked number 14 in the 185lb division and is hopeful of cracking the top 10 in the not-so-distant future.
Despite that, Page is moving up from welterweight for this fight and so a win for the Russian likely won’t see him move that far up the rankings.
Considering his 15-0 record, with a win on Saturday night, he will likely be offered a fight inside the top 10 of the division and will put himself closer to title contention.
Middleweight king, Dricus Du Plessis is set to defend his title in a rematch against Sean Strickland at UFC 312 and the next contender following that fight will be Khamzat Chimaev.
Because of there being a lack of new contenders at the top of the division, Shara ‘Bullet’ could find himself in title contention following just a few more wins.
