Conor McGregor has retweeted an article claiming that he and Logan Paul will share a half-a-billion dollar pot for their touted fight next year.

Earlier this month, McGregor claimed that he had made ‘preliminary agreements’ to face the YouTuber in an exhibition boxing match next year. He branded the fight a battle between WWE and UFC, and claimed that it would be funded by the mega-rich Ambani family.

The bout looks set to take place in India, and would mark the Irishman’s first time boxing officially since his 2017 crossover fight with Floyd Mayweather. Meanwhile, it would be Paul’s first ring outing since defeating Dillon Danis in a farcical 2023 showing.

Conor McGregor retweets further details about Logan Paul fight including venue and purse

This afternoon, an article from Fightbook MMA appeared to offer a lot more details about the prospective clash. The author reported that the bout would be a part of the Visit India tourism campaign, and reiterated that the Ambani family would fund it.

He also claimed that the fight would take place at the 34,000-capacity Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which is best known for hosting cricket. And perhaps most interestingly, he reported that the pair would share a 50/50 split on a pot of $500million.

However, the basis for the piece appears to be a notorious social media troll who poses as former TalkSport editor Michael Benson. The journalist, who now works for The Ring Magazine, had a famous news aggregation account with an iconic profile picture which he gave up to the magazine this month.

A copycat account which has bought a blue checkmark on X now purports to be Benson, writing in his style, citing legitimate sources. However, he makes up the news, and his citations don’t lead back to a journalist ever having said such a thing.

Conor McGregor took notice of this article, and appeared to be far from rubbishing it and its contents. He retweeted the author’s post with a link, and captioned his retweet with an Indian flag emoji and a love heart. There is no news on a date for the clash.

Conor McGregor claimed he has agreed to face Logan Paul next year

On December 17, Conor McGregor took to X to claim that he had made ‘preliminary agreements’ for a fight with Logan Paul. Logan is the brother of YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul, who has been calling for a fight with McGregor for his entire career.

However, it seems that the fight will be with the older and bigger sibling, who has not competed nearly as much or as high of a level as his brother. "The rumors of a bout with [UFC featherweight champion Ilia] Topuria are false,” McGregor wrote at the time.

“I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon.” Logan replied by sharing an eyes emoji over a post about the fight, but has otherwise remained silent on the rumours.

He even listed a series of goals for 2025 in a YouTube video released yesterday, and made no mention of fighting at all. He did tease a ‘big announcement’ after discussing his brother Jake’s fight with Mike Tyson, but remained vague.
