After going back-and-forth for years, it now looks like both of the Conor McGregor and Canelo Alvarez parties are interested in making the fight happen.
'The Notorious' looks poised to make his long-awaited UFC return, though Dana White isn't certain about the Irishman competing this year. The former 'champ-champ' has his sights set on a spectacular performance in his comeback bout, with Michael Chandler being the recurring name linked as the opponent.
As he has revealed many times before, Conor McGregor still has an interest in getting back into the ring. Despite giving a good account of himself, his only fight as a professional boxer ended in defeat — something he will be wanting to change in the near future.
One man who could welcome him back to the sport is the legendary Canelo Alvarez. During a recent interview, Alvarez stated his interest in the bout.
"Yeah, why not [fight Conor McGregor]?" Alvarez said. "And then we'll show that boxing is better."
"Easy, easy. Way easy money."
He continued, claiming that it wouldn't take too much to knock out the Dublin native.
"[I'll knock him out] at the time I want. One round, two rounds, three rounds. Whatever I want."

However, before Canelo Alvarez can fulfill any crossover super-fights, he is tasked with defending his middleweight titles.
Going head-to-head on the same night as the UFC's special event in the Las Vegas Sphere, Alvarez will put his belts on the line against the undefeated Edgar Berlanga.
Many expect another masterclass performance from the Mexican, but Berlanga is not to be dismissed.
Over 77% of the Puerto Rican's wins have come by way of knockout. He intends to impose his style when he comes up against his toughest test to date.
The clash will go down in Las Vegas, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena on September 14.
