Anderson Silva’s youngest son Gabriel Silva was viciously dropped on route to a third round stoppage defeat on Saturday night in Dublin.

Anthony Taylor, the former Bellator MMA fighter and notorious Jake Paul sparring partner, defended his Misfits Boxing title against Silva, who had previously won two fights in the promotion. The California native had just fought three weeks prior, knocking out Karate Combat ace Samuel Ericsson.

Silva had goaded Taylor in the pre-fight build-up over internet rumours regarding his rival’s sexuality, but couldn’t back up the trash talk in the ring on the night. Taylor now moves on to a potential fight later this year with former UFC title contender Darren Till.

After knocking out play-by-play commentator Ben ‘The Bane’ Davis in his debut last September before winning a contentious decision over Tik Tok star OJ Rose, Gabriel Silva earned a shot at Anthony Taylor’s Misfits Boxing title earlier this year.

However, a weight dispute saw the fight called off, with Taylor instead being matched with YouTube boxer KSI. That bout was cancelled when the Brit was forced out with an injury, and the American instead fought twice in three weeks against Ericsson and then Silva.

The fight started out with Taylor using his trademark suffocating style to swarm Silva, opting to take a knee amid any clinches. The clearly superior technical boxer Silva struggled with the initial pace, but appeared to cause trouble whenever he did land with one of his combinations.

After the champ took the first round, the second was a much closer affair, with the Brazilian arguably taking it. But when Taylor landed a big overhand right in the third he wobbled his rival, and was granted a rare standing eight count.

Shortly afterwards, a Taylor onslaught finished in a brutal punch upstairs that flattened Silva, who miraculously found his way to his feet. But when he landed a barrage a few moments later, the referee stepped in and ended the contest with seconds to go in the third.

Following his victory, Taylor laid out his future plans, starting with a callout of former UFC middleweight Darren Till. The Brit has been mocking his rival for weeks on social media, and it seems that the pair may be set to face off later this year.

He also continued his pursuit of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather, who recently made headlines when he fired a referee midway through an exhibition fight. He has been pursuing that bout for the best part of two years since fighting on the iconic champion’s undercard.

“Darren Till, I know you watching,” Taylor teased in his post-fight interview in the ring after the fight. “Hey, if you see this message, bring it. Floyd Mayweather, I’ll knock your little skinny a** out too, bring it. Because best belief, I ain’t going nowhere!”
