Alexandre Pantoja is upset that Demetrious Johnson doesn’t want to fight

Last night, at UFC 310, inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, Alexandre Pantoja, put on a sensational performance to beat Kai Asakura.

Showcasing his ever-entertaining style, the 34-year-old marched forward, with a willingness to take knees to the face in order to connect with brutal blows of his own.

In the second round, Pantoja proved his grappling was on another level, dragging his rival to the floor, before locking in a rear-naked choke to close the show.

In his post-fight interview, ‘The Cannibal’ took his opportunity to call out Demetrious Johnson for a battle of the legends.

However, the former UFC and ONE championship title-holder was quick to turn the offer down, saying he doesn’t need the money, leaving Pantoja upset.

At the post-fight press conference, he said: “Yeah, that’s crazy because it’s not about money. I don’t fight for money; I fight to prove I’m the best of the best. I think everybody is here to do that. Of course, you need to pay your bills and mortgages.

“We’re here to figure out who’s the best of the best; that’s what I did tonight. I’m super glad the UFC give me money to defend this belt. I can pay my bills and put my kids in a good place.

“But I don’t fight for just money. Demetrious Johnson is not about money. It’s about who’s the best of the best.

“I say that because I see he’s retired. I don’t know about his contact, if he has something that means he can’t come to the UFC.

“But it’s about legacy, it’s about seeing who’s the best. This is why I live. I wake up every day to be the best.”
