Senza Parole Will Scratch From The Frizette

'TDN Rising Star' Senza Parole (Gun Runner) will be scratched from Saturday's GI Frizette at Aqueduct and will not make her next start until some time next year, reports trainer Chad Brown. She was the 3-5 morning line favorite in the race and, with a victory, would have been considered one of the horses to beat in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies.

“Unfortunately, she's scratched out of this race,” Brown said. “She came up with an injury coming out of her last workout (a four-furlong work at Saratoga on Sept. 28). She's done for the year. The prognosis is that she'll get back to the races early next year. But it was devastating news. Based on her debut, she was going to be one of the early favorites for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. But we won't be able to make it. This is something we want to take care of and have her ready for next year. It would have been to risky to run her.”

Brown declined to reveal the exact nature of the injury.

“That's not something I want to disclose,” he said. “I can tell you she had a setback and the prognosis is good for next year.”

Brown was among those who was very impressed by the filly's debut, a 7 3/4-length win in an Aug. 23 maiden race at Saratoga in which she got a 94 Beyer figure. The 94 was the fastest figure given so far this year to a 2-year-old filly.

“Going into her debut, we knew she was that good,” Brown said. “I'm not sure why she was dead on the board (at 7-2). She was brilliant in all her works and she ran to them.”
