What's in the bag for PING staffer Harris English as he starts his 2024 campaign?

Harris English is a PING staffer who makes good use of the range of clubs produced by the ‘Big Four’ brand.

English turns to the Ping G430 LST with 10.5 degrees of loft as his driver of choice. The 440cc LST accelerates ball speed with reduced spin, key contributors being their Carbonfly Wrap and a newly optimized face featuring ‘Spinsistency’ technology, which combines longer drives with a more pleasing impact experience.

English also has a G400 3-wood in his bag which PING claims is their highest-launching fairway offering yet.

The Georgia native starts his selection of irons with a Ping G410 Crossover 3 iron. This club combines the precision and control of an iron with the speed and forgiveness of a hybrid.

For the rest of his irons, English has backed the PING Blueprint T. With their shorter blade lengths, less offset and narrow sole widths optimized to perform in all conditions the Blueprint T irons give elite shotmakers unmatched precision to attack any pin with confidence.

English has four wedges in his bag starting at 46 degrees with a 52, 56 and 60 completing the set. All of his wedges come from the PING Si59 range. These four clubs are recent additions to English’s bag and are not yet available commercially. PING appear to have moved to make the new S159 wedges a more classic shape and look than the Glide series. While the specs have not yet been released, the face appears to have the same Emery blast finish and milled grooves as the Glide to create more spin and control for a piercing ball flight and angle of attack.

By contrast, English’s putter has been in his bag for over a decade and is no longer manufactured by PING.

“Harris is a big fan of the top alignment features of the HoHum," PING Tour Rep Tony Serrano has said. "The HoHum top surface sits high and is flat with subtle ball diameter and ball-width features that help him with his alignment of the ball. Also, the durometer insert gives him the feel, sound and speed that works best for Harris' putting.

"We've tested several different styles of putter in the past. We've even designed a specific putter with Harris' input but he's always gone back to the HoHum. He's commented in the past that it's tough to switch putters since he has so many memories of making clutch putts with the HoHum, which gives him confidence. Yesterday is another just another clutch putt with the HoHum for his memory bank.”
