What's in the bag for Nelly Korda at the Grant Thornton Invitational?

Nelly Korda is nearly a year into her twin deals with TaylorMade and Nike which announced her as a major influence on golf’s brand wars – some two years after her maiden Major success alerted the golfing world to her immense potential.

From a famous sporting family, albeit one that is famous in tennis rather than golf, Korda has stood out for taking her own pathway to the top.

With the TaylorMade deal came a complete overhaul of her bag, with every club barring her putter being supplied by TaylorMade.

"I signed with TaylorMade because of their proven ability to elevate the game of the best golfers in the world," Korda said in a statement released by the company. "In testing with the TaylorMade tour team, it was clear that not only was I working with high-performing equipment, but also a team that shared my passion for working as hard as possible to be in the best position to win."

When it comes to launching it off the tee, Korda has deployed the TaylorMade Stealth 2 HD this season. The club delivers a draw-bias design with a stable feel and the highest MOI of any driver in the Stealth family. Korda is said to prefer the draw-bias HD driver as it fits her desired shot shape off the tee.

Her fairway woods are also from the TaylorMade Stealth 2 range with Korda opting to put a 3-wood and 7-wood in her bag.

The 7-wood allows her to start her Irons from a 5. Korda uses the TaylorMade P7770 irons for her 5 and 6 and the TaylorMade P7MC range to cover 7-iron through to her pitching wedge. The compact but potent P7770s give Korda plenty of distance and great versatility when it comes to attacking the green. Meanwhile, the TaylorMade P7MCs offer Korda precision playability and a hint of forgiveness for the shorter game.

Her wedge is a TaylorMade Milled Grind 3 which features RAW Face Micro-Ribs, engineered for added face texture to deliver spin around the greens and added precision on partial shots.

TaylorMade haven’t convinced Korda to drop her Scotty Cameron Special Select Squareback 2 Prototype just yet, but they will likely keep sending her their Spider Tour range to convince her to make the switch and go to a full TaylorMade bag in 2024.

Korda couldn’t win a tournament in 2023 with her new bag, but she was reasonably consistent, securing nine top-10 finishes in 18 starts and ending 20th on the money list for the season.

Korda will pair with PGA Tour professional Tony Finau for the very first edition of the Grant Thornton Invitational. The Grant Thornton Invitational is a mixed-team Challenge Season event that sees 16 LPGA and 16 PGA TOUR players competing in a unique co-sanctioned tournament for equal prize money.
