WATCH: Tiger Woods' best shots at the Hero World Challenge as legend returns

Played on the Albany Course, the Hero World Challenge is a golf tournament hosted by Tiger Woods and has often featured special moments from the man himself.

The small invitational field play for unofficial prize money and, since 2009, also get World Golf Rankings points for their efforts in the tournament played as a benefit for the Tiger Woods Foundation.

There have been four venues for the Hero World Challenge which was first played in January 2000 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Woods has himself claimed the title on five occasions but has not lifted the trophy since 2011 and hasn’t won since the tournament moved to the Albany development in 2015.

Despite being the two-time reigning champion, Woods did not participate in 2008 due to knee surgery following his US Open triumph. He did not play in 2009 owing to time away from golf for personal reasons.

In 2010, Woods returned to the tournament and then won it in 2011 with a score of 10, beating Zach Johnson by one stroke. Woods won with a birdie on the final two holes, his first victory in almost two years, since the 2009 Australian Masters.

For the first three editions the competition was known as the Williams World Challenge. The Target World Challenge was renamed starting in 2002. From 2008 to 2011, it was known as the Chevron World Challenge.

Northwestern Mutual was the presenting sponsor in 2012 rather than the title sponsor; they became the title sponsor in 2013. Hero MotoCorp then became the title sponsor the following year in 2014. The event was relocated to the Albany development in the Bahamas in 2015.

This season interest in the event has spiked with the news that Woods will return to playing action at the Hero World Challenge.

Those holding out hope of Woods someday regaining Major-winning form and adding to his tally of 15 will be watching him with great anticipation.

Woods has said that his surgery was a success but revealed he is struggling with mobility issues. The first few tournaments he plays could give us an indication of whether he will be sticking around on a more permanent basis or becoming a part-timer.

He was able to walk the course while doing caddying duties for Charlie, his son, at a junior event a few weeks ago.

Apart from the row between the PGA and LIV golf, his status and impending return has been the biggest story in golf.

The Hero World Challenge gets underway on November 30 and you can follow the action through the usual PGA Tour broadcast partners.
