The PING vault has become something of a legend in the golfing community, but there is a whole lot of misinformation circulating regarding this amazing room.
Visitors to the PING headquarters in Phoenix Arizona may be lucky enough to be shown inside the famous vault.
The vault is full of gold-plated replica clubs they send to pro tour and amateur winners.
The clubs stored in the PING Vault are not solid gold as some have suggested given how expensive such a procedure would be.
PING have not dug a bunker underground to store the clubs away, although the vault is well-guarded with multiple security measures protecting the incredible room.
PING supremo Karsten Solheim made the decision to commend experts for utilising his equipment well. Every time a professional used a PING putter to win a tournament, he made the decision to produce two putters that were gold-plated. The winning professional receives one of these putters, while the other is kept in the vault.
The oldest putter in the PING vault is John Barnum's model 69 from his 1962 Cajun Classic victory. Currently, there are over 3,000 putters in the vault. The vault has needed to be expanded several times throughout its life because of how many putters are being added.
The PING Anser putter is in the vault most out of any of the designs brought out by the clubmaker. There are over 500 gold-plated PING Ansers in the vault of fame.
There are a few wedges in the vault as well for those instances when the winning shot is not struck with a putter. The wedges are gold-plated when the winning shot is made with a wedge instead of putting out.
The famous vault has also inspired a range of putters made by PING. Currently represented by the PING Vault 2.0.
