WATCH: How to escape a pot bunker in several painfully complicated steps

If you believe there is an easy way to escape a pot bunker on a links course in Scotland, more power to you.

St Andre Golf has a few great tips for how to approach a pot bunker.

The most important thing to have in hand, other than your highest lofted club, is a sense of humour.

You will need it.

A number of American golfers made the trip across the Atlantic to take part in the recent Scottish Open won by home hero Robert MacIntyre, much to his delight.

"I’ve not been shy in saying it: The Scottish Open is the one I want," MacIntyre said going into his final round.

And he was sure to celebrate realising his ambition.

“I’m not a big drinker, but when you get moments like that that’s a childhood dream and a lifetime goal, and you’ve got family and friends there that have backed you since you were a young kid, I think it was quite right to go absolutely wild,” MacIntyre said afterwards. “I think we did a good job of that.

“After this week’s over, I’ll sit back, sit down with my team, and we’ll reflect on it and probably celebrate again because, again, it was a lifetime goal of mine.”
