WATCH: Adam Scott rattles the flag with incredible near-miss on an Albatross

Adam Scott came close to creating an incredible golfing moment at the Australian PGA Championship in Queensland with a bomb of a teeshot hit straight at the pin.

Teeing off on the relatively short par four 12th at the Royal Queensland Golf Club, Scott went for the green in one and made it.

Scott’s drive came down on the very edge of what is a long and fairly narrow green when approached from the teeboxes and fairway.

Some will say that Scott was unlucky to see his drive roll into the flag but not go in.

However, others might suggest that Scott was lucky to hit the pin which stopped his drive from flying off the back of the green.

Scott shot a second-round 65 to be 11 under heading into the weekend after carding a birdie at the 12th after missing a tricky 12-foot putt for eagle. He missed out on a share of the lead after failing to hole a chance for a birdie on the 15th after his putt just pushed past the hole.

He had earlier lipped out on a chip for eagle on the 10th in what was a stunning round but could have been so much better for a little slice of luck for the Australian.

He made par on 13 through 18 to end his round one stroke behind overnight leader Min Woo Lee who retained his lead after following up an opening round 64 with a 66 on Friday.

Scott, meanwhile, has been in the mood for both the sublime and the ridiculous while in Brisbane.

While his putting has let him down it seems that Scott could chip in one handed while eating a sausage roll.

We know that he could because he did…

The Australian PGA Championship leaderboard at the halfway mark is dominated by local players, but one Aussie is notable for his absence from the lead group and his impending absence from weekend golf.

Defending champion Cameron Smith missed the cut after a forgettable start to his defence.

Scott, however, remains in the frame to snap a nearly four-year-long title drought and do it on home soil.

He has not won a title since his Los Angeles Open triumph in February 2020. Scott came closest to winning another title at the 2021 Wyndham Championship when he lost in a six-way playoff.
