Is there a cut at the Olympics? What to know about Day 2 in Paris, from contenders to disappointments

Morgane Metraux set the tone early in the second round of the Paris Olympics. Playing in the second group out, Metraux poured in two eagles on the front nine en route to a record 28. The back nine wasn’t as smooth, but the second-round 66 was enough to put the Swiss player atop the board at 8 under through 36 holes.

Scoring in Round 2 was 1.41 strokes lower than the opening round in softer conditions. There were a number of surges – both good and bad – on testing Le Golf National, where things can change in a hurry.
