These top layouts can all be played for less than $100 for 18 holes.
George Wright Golf Course
The George Wright Golf Course is unquestionably one of the finest municipal courses.
Green fees that start at $57, make it a popular course with locals.
Regretfully, people who are not familiar with Boston’s Hyde Park and Roslindale neighbourhoods would never realise that this top-notch public golf course is right in the middle of the city.
Constructed by renowned architect Donald Ross, this public golf course opened for play in 1929, right in the midst of the Great Depression and the collapse of the stock market.
George Wright Golf Course, which first opened in 1938, has recently gained widespread recognition following a remodelling project spearheaded by New England mainstay Mark Mungeam.
The course has since won several noteworthy and esteemed national honours.
Waubeeka Golf Links
It is no secret why the Waubeeka Golf Links is hailed as the course “where fairways meet Heaven,” with the majestic Berkshire Mountains serving as its backdrop.
And when you tee off on the 18-hole championship golf course, you too will soon realise why Golf Digest rated Waubeeka as one of the best courses in Massachusetts.

Shaker Hills Country Club, which was established in 1991, had extensive renovations under the direction of Fred Curtis, Jr, the club’s new owner.
Curtis had no prior experience in golf management, but his unwavering determination, vision, and need to “shake things up” helped him lead the renovation project and turn Shaker Hills into one of the most popular and must-play courses in all of Massachusetts.
Shaker Hills provides players, no matter their handicap, with a demanding experience because to its diverse range of hole setups and immaculate, carpet-like greens.
The Ranch Golf Club
The Ranch Golf Club is postcard-perfect throughout the season and has to go down as among the most breathtaking layouts in the state.
The Ranch was one of just two courses in all of New England to be ranked in the top 50 in Golf World’s Readers’ Choice for 2010.
The Ranch, a unique east coast Damian Pascuzzo design, smoothly transitions from fairway corridors backed with forests to welcoming open meadows.
It’s a test of skill for players of all skill levels and a golfing experience that will leave you wanting more.
Blackstone National Golf Club
Blackstone National, near Sutton, was created by well-known architect Rees Jones.
Jones made it his life’s work to create a challenging yet rewarding, pleasant yet tough golfing experience.
Blackstone is a difficult course that requires golfers to have a wide range of shot types at their disposal.
It will set you back $89 to play Blackstone.

Highfields Golf & Country Club
Situated on the premises of the former Magil Dairy Farm, the 18-hole championship course of Highfields Golf and Country Club spans over 220 acres of immaculate land with a view of the Blackstone Valley, one of the most exciting tourist destinations in the state, known for its stunning autumn foliage and charming New England villages.
You can play the course for $77 with a cart rental included.
The Magil family, consisting of John Magil and his son Jay, had a unique idea for a golf course that would appeal to all golfers, regardless of their playing ability or financial status. They collaborated with Mugeam Cornish Golf Design, an architectural firm that has designed more courses in New England than any other group.
This parkland layout is a great walk at any time of year but early to mid-fall it is stunning.
Crestview Country Club
The Crestview Country Club course offers stunning panoramic views of the Pioneer Valley in gorgeous West Massachusetts.
Known as the Gem of Western Mass, Crestview has been acknowledged as one of the best courses in the area.
It has played host to a variety of events, including the PGA Tour Travelers Championship Open Qualifier in 2015, the CT Section PGA Championship in 2013, the LPGA Friendly's Classic from 1195-1998 and several US Amateur.
