Adam Scott trialling the Ping G430 LST driver

Adam Scott has been spotted using a Ping G430 LST driver in his bag for a home event –  as much as a South Australian can be at home in Queensland.

The Australian PGA Championship is the third event since players have been able to get their hands on prototype hardware that has just been released to limited top professionals. However, the Ping G430 LST driver is the 2023 edition of the driver, not their new G430 Max 10K which Cameron Champ deployed at Sea Island.

Scott also has his TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus in the bag, so he hasn’t gone all in on Ping just yet.

The Australian star has TaylorMade woods to supplement his main driver using the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus 3-wood and recently ditching his old Stealth 7-wood and carrying a TaylorMade Stealth (19 degrees) 5-wood.

Scott uses a Srixon ZU85 3-iron and his 4-9 irons are a custom range developed for him by Miura from the AS-1 range.

He uses three wedges from the Titleist Vokey Design range in the 48, 54 and 60 degree loft, and a WedgeWorks 60 T.

Scott uses the distinctive L.A.B. Golf Mezz.1 Proto putter which certainly makes him stand out among his colleagues on the Tours.

Ahead of the Australian PGA Championship, Scott admitted that he doesn’t have championship confidence.

"It's nice to play well, (but) I obviously haven't found it that easy to win over the last couple of years," Scott told reporters.

"I played well in Bermuda but it's not a win, and it's hard to fake that confidence of closing out a tournament and beating the entire field."

Scott hopes that the DP World Tour’s stops in Australia can give him momentum to take into 2024.

"I feel like I've got all the game to win more. I'm healthy still and at 43 moving well. If I were to win this week or next week (at the Australian Open) it could be a springboard," he said.
