A mixed-team golf event at the Olympics? Count these LPGA players in

GILBERT, Ariz. — The 2024 Summer Olympics will be the third one with men’s and women’s golf competitions since the sport was reintroduced to the Games. Le Golf National in Paris will follow in the footsteps of Brazil and Japan as host sites and the format is already set in stone.

But as the Associated Press recently reported, golf in the Olympics is likely to include a team competition when the Games make their way to Los Angeles in 2028. Riviera Country Club is going to be the host course that year. On the heels of the well-received Grant Thornton Invitational, a mixed event won by Jason Day and Lydia Ko in December, it seems the time is right for more such a competition.

Adding the team concept to the schedule will take a little bit of figuring out, but the AP report says an addition team event would only be two more days of competition.

Here’s what some of the standout golfers on the LPGA think about a mixed competition at the Olympics.
