5 things to know about the 79th U.S. Women's Open at Lancaster Country Club

LANCASTER, Pa. — Nelly Korda was out early on Monday getting her first look at Lancaster Country Club. The World No. 1 and winner of a whopping six LPGA events this season doesn’t have a particularly strong U.S. Women’s Open record, but, so far in 2024, she can do no wrong.

While all eyes will fall on Korda early week, the field for the 79th U.S. Women’s Open was finalized on Monday, and four alternates were added to round out the 156. The 1919 William Flynn design first came into the national spotlight nine years ago when In Gee Chun won in her championship debut. It was the first time Lancaster Country Club had hosted a USGA event.

South Korea’s Chun, of course, has gone on to win two more major titles, and embraced the Lancaster community as a second home.
