Liu, Zong & Xu share China ProTour success

Yuanjun Liu, Xiaochen Zong and Tong Xu shared titles as the 2025 China ProTour season got underway last weekend.

The China ProTour  - taking place from May to October – will provide ten tournaments which are worth $3,500US each.

Liu – who represented China at the 2016 and 2017 World Cup of Darts - stormed to victory in Saturday's opening event with a 5-1 demolition of Kehua Wang.

The 43-year-old also eased past Ruoqi Guo, Linhui Zhang and Hao Li on his way to victory, before reeling off four straight legs to defeat Qingyu Zhan 5-3 in the semi-finals.

Liu's bid for back-to-back titles was thwarted by Zong in the Event Two semi-finals, as China's premier player opened his account in style.

The four-time World Championship qualifier overcame Zhan 5-2 in the Event Two showpiece, having averaged 96 in his semi-final thumping of Liu.

This was preceded by a deciding-leg win over Bin Zheng, while he also saw off Xintao Shang, Peiwen Cao and Chenhui Pan – conceding a solitary leg in those three matches.

Xu then claimed the Event Three spoils on Sunday, recovering from 4-3 down to edge out Zhan in a gruelling contest.

Zhan dumped out Zong in the semi-finals, while Xu accounted for Junlong Yin and Event One winner Liu in the latter stages of the tournament.

Xu had kicked off his campaign with an impressive whitewash win over Zhiwei Lin, while he also swept aside former World Championship qualifier Xicheng Han in round two.

The China ProTour season will continue with Events 4-6 on July 19-20, as the race for PDC Asian Championship qualification continues.
