Caleb Plant hit back at a heckler who quickly gave up after the boxer confronted him.

Plant is set to return this weekend in a huge clash with undefeated Trevor McCumby, on the undercard of ex-rival Canelo Alvarez’s clash with Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas.

‘Sweethands’ has regularly been involved in a string of controversial incidents on fight week including sparking a backstage brawl with Ryan Garcia at a show earlier this year.

Now things have turned heated again for the American who was heckled on stage while at this week’s grand arrivals.

Plant’s opponent McCumby had accused him of quitting in his clash with Alvarez in 2021, and he was asked by the interviewer on stage.

A fan shouted from the crowd: “You'll get knocked out like you always do. You're a bum."

The fighter on stage was clearly unimpressed with the fan’s comments and quickly sparked a tense exchange.

He shouted back: “Say what? Come up here and say that in my face. Yeah, come up and say that in my face.

“See how that works out. I'll show you what a bum look like."

The fan unsurprisingly went extremely quiet after Plant’s response and refused to engage in any trading of verbal barbs with the boxer.

His silence continued throughout the remainder of the show, with the former title challenger’s threat clearly doing exactly what he intended.

Plant already has sparked feuds with several prominent figures in the boxing world which includes Alvarez’s rival Edgar Berlanga.

The pair were separated at the weigh-in of Alvarez’s win over Jaime Munguia in May, and is another potential future opponent for Plant.

Plant also confronted and punched Jermall Charlo last year at the same venue, just hours before Terence Crawford beat Errol Spence Jr.

And the brash-talking American has already spoken cross words with McCumby, who is looking to hand a damaging blow to Plant’s boxing career.

He has since explained that his intention is not to get involved in skirmishes, but has been reacting to defend himself.

"In all of these situations, me and my wife just pull up to the fights … I've been minding my business.

“I'm obviously not looking for trouble if I'm rolling with [Jordan Plant] and with fights coming up, I'm not looking to hurt my hands.

“Trying to mind my business, but some people won't let you mind your business.”

On his upcoming task, he added: “Whoever wins – me – will be elevated to (interim champion), and with Canelo wearing the full belt, you can do the maths on that.

Right now, it's one fight at a time. I've got to focus on the task in front of me. Trevor's undefeated.

“He's looking to stay that way. And I'm looking to put on a show, so I've got to lock in."
