Tyson Fury landed an elbow but Francis Ngannou barely even flinched in their fight

Francis Ngannou may be the former UFC fighter, but Tyson Fury pulled out an MMA move in their clash.

Fury was dropped in the third round against Ngannou, but he recovered and made it to the final bell to win a controversial split decision victory on Saturday night.

Prior to the fight, a lot was made of the fact that Ngannou’s chosen discipline is MMA and he may struggle in a boxing ring.

But, the Cameroonian held his own and looked more than competent against Fury, so much so that many people thought he deserved the decision.

Meanwhile, Fury’s boxing skills looked a far-cry from what we are used to seeing from ‘The Gypsy King’.

And at one point he even, presumably accidentally, threw an elbow that caught Ngannou flush.

But, ‘The Predator’ showed an iron chin as he ate the shot, with it barely affecting him, and he kept coming forward.

As for which combat sport Ngannou will continue with having impressed in the boxing ring, but also being a former UFC heavyweight champion, he has said he will carry on both.

"I can do both, nothing’s stopping me from doing both,” Ngannou said.

“If I have the skill for both of them, why not? I never intended to step over, do one fight, and go. That was never the plan."

And in terms of Fury, he will go into an undisputed heavyweight title fight with Oleksandr Usyk next.

The fight was expected to take place on December 23, but Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has now said it could happen as late as March next year.
