Tony Finau shoots down LIV Golf rumors, announces 2024 PGA Tour plans

With rumors of his association with LIV Golf swirling, Tony Finau took to social media to announce his plans for 2024.

While Tony Finau teamed up with Nelly Korda at last weekend's Grant Thornton Invitational, rumors about his association with LIV Golf percolated across South Florida.

Finau even addressed these whispers with The Palm Beach Post.

"I have nothing to say right now," Finau said.

"I haven't heard anything. I haven't let anything marinate other than just playing right now."

The Utahan went on to tie for fourth alongside Korda, finishing three strokes behind the all-Aussie duo of Jason Day and Lydia Ko. With his name emerging within multiple reports and buzzing across social media, Finau managed to silence the noise and play well.

He then took to social media himself on Monday to address his future plans and hush these rumors.

"The 2023 season is in the books!" Finau wrote.

"I'm excited for 2024 and looking forward to playing my 10th season on the PGA Tour! And stoked to be defending in both Mexico and Houston! Thank you to my partners for your continued support. Thank you to the fans for all the love for our whole Finau fam. See y'all in Maui!"

He also included a hashtag beneath the post: "#imnotleaving."

Finau, who has six career victories on the PGA Tour, will not jump to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf circuit after all. He chose to stay with the tour just days after Jon Rahm jumped to LIV Golf. His decision comes a few days after a Signature Event sponsor dropped its relationship with the PGA Tour, too.

Some reports indicated that Finau would join Rahm's LIV Golf team, but that did not materialize.

Instead, Finau will play on the PGA Tour throughout 2024, hoping to rack up more victories and perhaps grab that elusive first major title. He will continue to have plenty of support from golf fans, too, as his smile and charming personality endear almost everyone.

But at the end of the day, the PGA Tour needed a victory in this reinvigorated war with LIV Golf, and Finau provided the executives in Ponta Vedra Beach, Florida, with one.
