'This makes me f***ing happy' – Tyson Fury gives answer boxing fans want to hear when asked if he will retire after Francis Ngannou and Oleksandr Usyk

Tyson Fury has reassured boxing fans that he is not planning to retire again any time soon.

The WBC heavyweight world champion has previously claimed to be quitting the sport on several occasions throughout his career.

Fury first announced his retirement in 2013, when David Haye postponed and then cancelled their fight due to injury.

He returned to action the following year and became heavyweight world champion by dethroning Wladimir Klitschko not long later.

However, he retired again in 2016 as he postponed and then cancelled his rematch with Klitschko due to his mental health issues.

This was Fury’s longest retirement by far as he ballooned up to 28 stone and spent two-and-a-half years out of the ring before returning.

The Gypsy King reclaimed his heavyweight throne by stopping Deontay Wilder and, after his mandatory defence against Dillian Whyte in 2022, announced once again that he was retiring.

Before the end of the year though, he made another U-turn and returned to face Derek Chisora.

Now, Fury is locked in to fight Francis Ngannou on October 28 and then he will meet Oleksandr Usyk in an undisputed heavyweight world title showdown.

As such, he does not plan on retiring again any time soon and told ESPN: “I’m looking to sign another ten-fight deal after this.

“I’m going to put my feelers out there and see who I can get the best deal off for another ten fights.

“What else is there? I retire, plenty of money, plenty of achievement, whatever.

“35 [years old]. What am I going to do?…

“This makes me f***ing happy, fighting. This is all I’ve ever done and all that’s ever made me happy.

“So it’d be stupid now to walk away from it when I’m making millions of dollars and getting loads of joy from it as well.”

Fury went on to compare the two fighters he has now signed to face – Ngannou and Usyk.

“A lot of people are on about this undisputed fight, fantastic,” he said.

“But I have a much more dangerous person to deal with next Saturday than I do after for the undisputed fight, I believe.

“Because Francis is a bigger man, stronger, more powerful and has knockout capability.

“As we’ve seen with Oleksandr Usyk, he doesn’t really do much damage to people he hits.

“So you could probably let Usyk punch you all about the head and he’ll give you a black eye.

“If you let Ngannou punch you all about the head, he’s probably going to rattle your brain for you.”
