talkSPORT betting tips – Best boxing bets and expert advice for Vasiliy Lomachenko v George Kambosos

Vasiliy Lomachenko and George Kambosos clash for the vacant IBF world lightweight title in what should be a cracking contest.

Lomachenko makes the trip to Australia to face Kambosos, who will have a home Perth crowd on side, however, the Ukrainian is the overwhelming favourite.

Loma is a 1/8 chance to win back the title he lost to Teofimo Lopez in 2020, while Kambosos is 9/2 to cause a major upset.

Tips:

  • Vasiliy Lomachenko to win by unanimous decision@ 5/4

Lomachenko set for more world title glory

Lomachenko is one of the great fighters of modern boxing and the 36-year-old has held world titles in three weight classes from featherweight to lightweight.

The Ukrainian is the former unified and lineal lightweight champ and Loma is aiming to win a world title for the first time since the 36-year-old was defeated by Lopez in 2020.

The Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi boxer was one of the most successful amateur fighters of all time and Lomachenko fought for the vacant WBO featherweight title in just his second professional contest.

Fast forward to Sunday's clash with Kambosos and the Ukrainian returns to the ring after losing to undisputed 135lb king Devin Haney last year.

That was an extremely competitive contest which Haney won on points and, while the judging of the fight failed to reflect how closely-fought the Las Vegas clash was, Loma could have easily been awarded the decision.

Lomachenko had previously destroyed Masayoshi Nakatani, Richard Commey and Jamaine Ortiz and those victories along with the performance against Haney, suggests that the 36-year-old has plenty left to offer.

Kambosos has the shock victory over Lopez on his card, but the Aussie has since twice been comfortably outpointed by Haney and there is little to suggest that the Sydney fighter has the skills to mix it with Lomachenko.

Ferocious is certainly a committed and dedicated boxer, but the Aussie doesn't carry a great deal of punch power and, if the Perth bout develops into a battle of technical ability, Loma is in a class of his own.

talkSPORT BET offer an exact method of victory market and, at 5/4 backing Lomachenko to win by unanimous decision looks a bet.
