Veteran cutwoman, Sammy Morris, insists Mike Tyson is very susceptible to getting cut against Jake Paul.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion is set to return to the ring on November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas against Paul in a professional heavyweight contest.

They were initially slated to square off on July 20, however, the fight was postponed after Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up that left him medically unfit to compete this summer.

Several medical professionals have come out and warned ‘Iron Mike’ about the potential health implications he faces by returning to the ring at 58 years old against a man 31 years his junior.

Senior Lecturer in Medicine at Anglia Ruskin University, Stephen Hughes, claims that as Tyson is an older man and a recovering alcoholic, he is at an increased risk of suffering subdural haematoma (brain bleed), which can be fatal.

But Morris, who has worked as a cutwoman in bare-knuckle boxingMMA and gloved boxing for over ten years, insists Tyson should also be concerned about the possibility of a gash opening up during his upcoming fight.

“As we age the epidermis thins, also the production of elastin and collagen is dramatically reduced meaning the facial bones have less protection around them and are more protruding so they are easier to open up from a punch,” Morris told talkSPORT.com.

“The healing process will also be substantially longer too… At 58, Tyson is at a high risk of getting cut.”

For the uninitiated, the epidermis is the outermost layer of the skin.

As we age, the cells of the epidermis grow thinner meaning the skin becomes more fragile and is more likely to tear.

There is also a breakdown of collagen and elastin over time, which both give skin the ability to stretch and snap back.

This reduction, in turn, causes the wound healing process to slow down significantly.

These cells and proteins naturally decrease with age, beginning in the mid-to-late 20s and early 30s, so Paul won’t be at nearly as much of a risk as Tyson.

‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’ has never received a cut so bad that it led to a doctor’s stoppage but he has had a fight postponed by one.

In 1990, before his bout with Alex Stewart, Tyson was cut in a sparring accident that required 48 stitches to close.

Tyson was getting some work in with Greg Page, the same sparring partner who had decked him during an open sparring session before his upset defeat to Buster Douglas earlier that year.

According to Tyson’s promoter at the time, Don King, both men had clashed heads during their sparring session resulting in a deep laceration opening above his client’s right eye, which extended down to his upper eyelid and went through to the bone.
