'Let Anthony Joshua end Tyson Fury's career' – Eddie Hearn says 'Gypsy King' looked like he had never boxed before against Francis Ngannou

Eddie Hearn is convinced Francis Ngannou deserved to beat Tyson Fury in their fight on Saturday night.

Fury claimed a controversial split decision victory over former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou despite being knocked down in the third round.

Many people believe Ngannou deserved to win, including promoter Eddie Hearn who thinks the Cameroonian won by two rounds.

Speaking after the fight at a show he was promoting in America, Hearn said: “You had one guy who has never boxed before, fighting a guy who also looked like he’d never boxed before in Tyson Fury.

“I can’t believe what we were watching, a complete novice in everybody’s book just beat Tyson Fury, Ngannou won that fight.”

Hearn was then asked about the knockdown in round three and he said: “I watched it back it didn’t even look like a big shot, I don’t know whether his resistance is going, respect to Francis Ngannou he stepped in the ring, he’s never boxed before. I still think he gets beaten by many levels below that.”

Hearn went on to talk about the upcoming clash between Fury and Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight world titles.

It was expected to take place on December 23 or January, but Fury’s promoter Frank Warren has suggested it could now be delayed until March.

Although, Hearn thinks it shouldn’t happen at all, instead saying that he wants his fighter Anthony Joshua to ‘end Fury’s career’.

“Forget Fury vs Usyk, forget it,” Hearn said.

“Ngannou just beat him, you’ve got to give him the rematch or let AJ end Fury’s career, six rounds is all we need there, otherwise we’ll never see that fight.

“But, if Fury has to fight Usyk, let AJ deal with Ngannou, three rounds is all we need there.”
