Jarrett Allen tried to dunk like LeBron James, and they both laughed about how it turned out
The Cleveland Cavaliers are the feel-good story of the NBA season. The Cavs have made a surprising jump from good team to elite team under first-year head coach Kenny Atkinson, winning 60+ games while holding down the No. 1 seed in the East ahead of the 2025 NBA Playoffs.
The Cavs core four of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley have found their groove in their third season together, giving Cleveland two 7-foot monsters inside and two shifty 6-foot guards who can score all over the court. The Cavs just also seem to get along very well off the court, and the team's fun-loving nature was again on display after they drilled the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
In the fourth quarter, Allen got the ball on the break and tried to give the home fans a show by cocking the ball way back on a dunk. After the game, he admitted that he "wanted to look like LeBron."
How did he do?
"I looked at the replay ... nothing close."
"I wanted to look like LeBron."

LeBron's signature dunk is a one-handed dunk where he reaches way back before slamming it home. Cavs fans saw that dunk many times over the years while James was in Cleveland, and it just didn't hit the same when Allen tried to do it.
LeBron loved Allen's quote and posted this on Instagram. He captioned it with "Love this dude!!! GREAT ENERGY AND SPIRIT."

Do yourself a favor and watch this compilation of LeBron tomahawk dunks over the years.
Allen is hilarious, and the Cavs are extremely good. Could you imagine the Cavs winning another championship only a handful of years after LeBron left the franchise for the second time? That would be extra sweet for Cleveland fans. Just know James is watching.
