Joseph Parker's promoter says he has 'earned' rematch with Anthony Joshua

Joseph Parker’s promoter wants to see his man fight Anthony Joshua for a second time.

The pair first clashed in a world title unification in 2018 and Joshua boxed his way to an unanimous decision victory.

This was followed by a defeat against Dillian Whyte for Parker and from there he had to box his way back into contention.

A loss against another Brit, Joe Joyce, in 2022, sent the man from New Zealand back to the drawing board once again.

Last year, however, he put together three solid wins before getting the opportunity to fight Deontay Wilder as a big underdog.

But, he shocked the world and put in a disciplined performance, sticking to his game plan, as he recorded a wide unanimous decision win over ‘The Bronze Bomber’.

As such, Parker’s promoter, David Higgins, says he has now ‘earned’ a rematch with Joshua.

“Joseph has earned that fight [with Joshua] in my opinion and the Saudis would see merit in Parker against Anthony Joshua,” Higgins told Sky Sports.

“It might not be next, there might be a bit more work to do but I think that’s the fight fans want to see. It’s a merit-based fight.

“In terms of opponents, Joseph will fight anyone and if you look at all the names on his resume from Derek Chisora twice, Joe Joyce, Joshua, Wilder, Dillian Whyte, the list goes on and he’s still only 31-years-old.

“We’ll fight Anthony Joshua in a heartbeat.

“Everyone knows Joseph will fight him next but I am not sure that’s an option. We’ll obviously look at any option and see what comes forward.”

As for Joshua, he beat Otto Wallin on the same night that Parker beat Wilder and up next, his promoter Eddie Hearn has named Filip Hrgovic, Zhilei Zhang and Francis Ngannou as potential opponents.
