Gervonta "Tank" Davis and Lamont Roach Jr could lock horns again this coming summer

ESPN's Salvador Rodriguez reports that lightweight rivals Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr are "tentatively" planning a June 21st rematch at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.

Roach (25-1-2, 10 KO), the reigning WBA titlist at 130, appeared to decisively beat a tentative "Tank" last month even with a bogus knockdown call that saw Davis (30-0-1, 28 KO) take a knee before running to his corner to be toweled off, only to settle for a majority draw. The New York State Athletic Commission frustratingly (but understandably) declined to overturn the result, but at least it seems Roach will get another big payday out of it.

Rodriguez adds that WBA middleweight champ Erislandy Lara (31-3-3, 19 KO) and Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KO) will appear on the undercard in separate bouts. The 41-year-old Lara had his busiest year since 2019 in 2024 with a whopping two bouts, which saw him smash Michael Zerafa in two and force Danny Garcia to quit after nine. As for Charlo, who hasn't fought since a one-sided loss to Canelo in September 2023, he's still champion-in-recess with both the WBC and WBA as far as I'm aware.
