George Groves explains awkward dressing room interaction with Chris Eubank Jr's sister after KO win against Liam Smith

George Groves does not think Chris Eubank Jr could have beaten him even if he boxed as well as he did against Liam Smith.

On Saturday night, Eubank put in a stunning performance against Smith, dropping him twice on his way to a tenth round stoppage victory.

But, he saw the funny side

Former super middleweight world champion Groves, who beat Eubank by unanimous decision in 2018, was on punditry duty for Sky Sports on the night.

After the fight he went into the dressing room to congratulate the fight winner and Groves had a funny interaction with Emily Eubank, the sister of Eubank Jr.

“So, I came in the changing room, I just wanted to say well done,” Groves explained on the George Groves Boxing Club Podcast.

“His sister, Emily, so as I said to Chris, ‘Well done man, brilliant, awesome’.

“And she said, ‘If he boxed like that when he boxed you he would have beat you’.

“I smiled. I wasn’t going to rain on her parade.”

Asked if Eubank would have beat him, Groves replied: “Absolutely not, of course he wouldn’t have no, I’d have put him to sleep.

“He was probably better the night he boxed me than he was last night and he was very good last night.

“I’m a different animal, I’m a beast, I’m a monster.

“I’m the most underrated, underappreciated fighter of any era.”
