Francis Ngannou reacts to controversial defeat and says Tyson Fury should thank judges

Francis Ngannou believes Tyson Fury should be thanking the judges after their clash on Saturday night.

The pair went at it for ten rounds, and Fury even found himself down on the canvas in round three, but ‘The Gypsy King’ managed to claim a controversial split decision victory, with two judges scoring it in his favour, while the other judge had Ngannou winning.

On X after the fight, Ngannou posted: “Tyson should say thank you to those 2 judges because I didn’t win this fight.”

The former UFC heavyweight champion then followed up by posting a series of photos from the fight of him landing on and dropping Fury.

And the accompanying caption that Ngannou chose to go with the pictures was: “Table Tennis champion of the world.”

This is in reference to the fact that at the weigh-in prior to the fight, when describing how much of a mismatch he believed it would be, Fury said: “It’s like a table tennis champion facing Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, totally different.”

Although it did not turn out that way…

With that being said, initially after the defeat, as he spoke in the ring, Ngannou was gracious in defeat, saying: “I’m feeling great, I’m feeling fantastic…

“This was my first boxing match, a great experience, I’m not giving any excuse, I know I came up short.

“But, I’m going to go back and work harder with a little more experience this time, a little more feeling of the game and come back even stronger.

“At first I was a little nervous with this new sport that I’ve never done and I don’t really feel it, but now I know that I can do this s***.”
