'Fire in the booth!' – Anthony Joshua shows off musical talent after performing freestyle rap with Louis Theroux

Anthony Joshua wowed with his freestyle rap prowess as he seized the chance to show off his musical talent to Louis Theroux.

The former two-time world heavyweight champion picked an unlikely challenger to battle during his latest stint away from the ring.

The 34-year-old went head-to-head with popular documentary maker Theroux in the north London gym at which he began his career.

During a candid interview in Finchley, AJ reflected on his boxing journey so far and his plans to become a three-time champion.

But the Watford-born heavyweight also took the opportunity to show off the freestyle rapping once only reserved for heavyweight rivals Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury and Dillian Whyte.

Joshua, who memorably seized the microphone to freestyle after his win over Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019, was quizzed on his love of music.

When Theroux asked what 'bars' AJ has got for him, the Olympic Gold medalist explained that he's 'more freestyle' but has got tracks.

Joshua was then put on the spot to demonstrate his rhymes and the lyrics that followed were epic, referencing Range Rovers to ninjas.

He said: “Me and Louis in the kitchen, having coffee and tea, you know that back in the day I'll be whippin', big pimpin', Range Rover dippin', me and my ninjas never slipping', trigger finger you know it stays itchin', I just put the clip in.”

Joshua’s 15-second flurry saw him burst out laughing before he flipped the script to get a more-than-game Theroux to follow suit.

The 53-year-old responded with: “Here I am with my man, AJ, I'm asking questions, getting all crazy, in a minute we'll get in the ring, watch me 'cause I can sting.

“I can throw a left, I can throw a right, put you down alright all night, you'll be with your feet layin' out, no doubt.'

“Fire in the booth!”, Joshua and Theroux then exclaim together.

Theroux then pointed to his camera crew ahead of him and added: “See, you've either got it or you haven't.

“That's what these people don't understand.”

A chucking AJ replied: “That's what I'm saying!”

Joshua was speaking ahead of his comeback win over Jermaine Franklin while he has since knocked out Robert Helenius.

Wilder is the top candidate to be his next opponent but a crossover showdown with Francis Ngannou is also not out of the question.

Whomever it may be don’t back against Joshua recording his own walk-out music…
