Eddie Hearn shuts down question about Conor McGregor at Katie Taylor post-fight press conference

Eddie Hearn was not happy when he was asked about Conor McGregor at Katie Taylor’s post-fight press conference.

McGregor has come under scrutiny recently for his comments on social media surrounding the recent riots in Dublin.

The former two-weight UFC champion’s Forged Irish Stout was a sponsor for Saturday night’s fight, as Taylor beat Chantelle Cameron in a rematch to win the undisputed super lightweight world titles.

In their first fight, which Taylor lost, McGregor was in attendance, but this time he did not make it, although the Irishman was watching on TV and footage emerged showing that he was delighted with the result.

After the bout at the post-fight press conference, promoter Eddie Hearn, who was sat alongside Taylor, was asked about her links with McGregor and he replied to the reporter: “You had to do it, didn’t you.”

“I have to tell you this, I’m so bored of talking about it. All you ever do is look for a negative.

“Conor McGregor is Conor McGregor, I don’t represent him, I don’t talk about his comments.

“He has a brand that has backed the sport of boxing and it has nothing to do with Katie Taylor, the show, the company.

“His opinions are his opinions. Tonight, we celebrate one of your greatest ever athletes, no more questions about Conor McGregor.

“I’m not being negative, but I have to ask the question,” the journalist responded.

Before Hearn said: “You can ask me away from the press conference, you can ask me after the press conference, I’ll answer it.

“But, not in front on Katie Taylor, this is her night.

“So, congratulations to one of the greatest athletes I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with.”
