Eddie Hearn sends sarcastic wink in response to Lennox Lewis' 'zero credibility' claim about Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou

Eddie Hearn and Lennox Lewis have reignited their old feud on social media in a discussion over Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou.

Joshua himself famously clashed with Lewis in the past when the retired former undisputed champion made critical remarks about Hearn and AJ’s trainer at the time Rob McCracken.

Following the announcement of the Ngannou fight on March 8, Lewis took to social media to give his thoughts.

“Ngannou's fight with Tyson Fury was a spectacle,” he tweeted, “This fight with AJ is also a spectacle.

“Hats off to Ngannou for making the most of his opportunities. He's done nothing wrong.

“This is just the heavyweight division in the year 2024. ”

A fan then commented: “AJ is allowed to take a fight like this, not a champion, fought plenty of contenders and Ngannou’s last fight somewhat makes him credible even if Fury barely prepared.”

To which Lewis replied: “IMO, this fight adds ZERO credibility to AJ's resume.

“He's SUPPOSED to win this fight and when he does, what does he gain or learn by beating someone in his second heavyweight fight?

“If he loses, than it's an absolute disaster. The same stood for Fury and it almost cost him everything.

Lewis and Hearn exchanged on social media

This response drew a reaction from Hearn.

He quote-tweeted the message and referenced Monday’s press conference as he said: “Listen in to yesterday.

“The winner fights the winner of Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed and when AJ joins your club I know you will be delighted for him. ”

His Excellency Turki Alalshikh (Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority chairman who is organising these fights) did indeed map out this plan at the presser.

With Fury vs Usyk set for February 17 and Joshua vs Ngannou set for March 8, there is now a clear road map for Fury vs Joshua to finally happen in 2024.
