Eddie Hearn says Anthony Joshua could fight on same card as Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn

As if Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn wasn’t a big enough fight already, now Anthony Joshua could feature on the same card.

Promoter Eddie Hearn wants to make a fight between Conor Benn and Chris Eubank on December 23 that he says will potentially be signed next week.

The pair were scheduled to fight in October 2022, but Benn became embroiled in a drugs scandal that is still ongoing and the bout was cancelled.

‘The Destroyer’ has since made a victorious return to the ring last month and now he wants Eubank next.

As for Joshua, he was expected to fight Deontay Wilder towards the end of this year, but negotiations have stalled, and now that clash looks more likely for 2024.

In the meantime, Joshua wants to stay active and fight in December and Hearn has proposed that he could appear on the same card as Eubank vs Benn, which would be huge.

“Our absolute priority at the moment is to fight Deontay Wilder and we had an offer to fight Deontay Wilder from Saudi Arabia and we accepted it and Wilder accepted it,” Hearn told talkSPORT.

“But, it didn’t materialise, so now we’re looking at other potential venues for that fight and I said if that fight doesn’t happen until let’s say March, he may fight in December…

“There have been talks about a big double-header with AJ and Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank, but we shall see.

“But, the absolute priority remains the Deontay Wilder fight and we’re all out to make that fight.”

There could also be the issue that Tyson Fury has signed to fight Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed heavyweight world titles and that contest could take place on December 23, but neither parties will want to clash.
