Conor McGregor to sit next to Cristiano Ronaldo at Day of Reckoning – but Saudi organisers make admin error

UFC superstar Conor McGregor will be sitting ringside next to Cristiano Ronaldo for the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

Heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder are set to headline a star-studded night of boxing – live on talkSPORT.

Two-time champion Joshua takes on Otto Wallin, while former WBC king Wilder faces off with Joseph Parker.

Jarrell Miller vs Daniel Dubois and Dmitry Bivol vs Lyndon Arthur are among multiple big fights on one of the most stacked undercards in boxing history.

McGregor was in attendance for Joshua’s last fight against Robert Helenius and grabbed plenty of media attention with his post-fight antics.

More recently, ‘Notorious’ attended Tyson Fury’s controversial win over Francis Ngannou.

Now, the Irishman has confirmed he will travel to the Middle East for the Kingdom’s latest spectacle.

“See you there (Chairman of General Authority for Entertainment Turki AlAlShikh)!” McGregor posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“Thank you for my invite once again to the Kingdom, I cannot wait! (Saudi flag emoji, crown emoji)”.

A host of A-list celebrities will be in attendance in Riyadh, with TNT Sports sharing a video on social media of the seating plan.

Sitting centre stage is His Excellency Turki Al-Sheikh, with Al Nassr striker Ronaldo immediately to the right of him.

Then follows two-weight UFC champion McGregor, who watched Fury’s points win over Ngannou with the Manchester United legend.

Though the Saudi organisers spelt the Dublin native’s name wrong, as they added an extra ‘N’ to his first name Conor.

Frank Warren and Eddie Hearn then follow, with the two promoters only meeting each other for the first time last month.

While they were not shown in the clip, heavyweight legends Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis will be in attendance as Joshua and Wilder attempt to set up a big-money showdown against each other in 2024.

McGregor also has a big year in store as the former two-weight champion plots a return to the Octagon for the first time since suffering a broken leg in July 2021.
