Conor McGregor makes bold prediction ahead of Katie Taylor's rematch against Chantelle Cameron

Conor McGregor is supremely confident Katie Taylor will avenge her lone career loss by beating Chantelle Cameron in their rematch.

The undisputed lightweight champion fell short in her bid to dethrone Cameron, who holds all four major world titles at light welterweight, in May.

Taylor slumped to a majority decision defeat at Dublin's 3Arena in what was billed as her homecoming after she fought all of her previous 22 professional boxing bouts outside of Ireland.

The 37-year-old will try to get revenge when she squares off against Cameron in a rematch at the same venue on Saturday night.

Taylor's most famous combat sports compatriot made his feelings about the main event of a show he is sponsoring clear just hours before it got underway.

McGregor tweeted: "Ireland's Champion Katie Taylor, redemption night!

"You can see a mile away she is way more content this round. Way more composed. Real energy, real happiness! She takes this win back handily.

"I predict a landslide victory for our hero tonight! Good luck Katie Taylor.

"Ireland, stand up! We are about to do it again! #redemption."

The former dual-weight UFC champion sat in the front row for Taylor's first fight with Cameron and was seen with his head in his hands after Taylor’s first career loss was confirmed.

However, McGregor is not expected to be in attendance for the re-run.

“I don’t believe he is attending the event," Eddie Hearn, who is promoting the fight, told Virgin Media on Friday.

McGregor is currently working towards his UFC comeback.

The 35-year-old hasn't fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – but he is fit and ready to return in 2024.

Lightweight contender Michael Chandler is the man believed to be tasked with welcoming MMA’s biggest star back to the Octagon.

It's unclear if McGregor’s training schedule or something else is preventing him from attending, but you can be sure he'll tune in to see if his Cameron vs Taylor 2 prediction comes true.
