McGregor was not in attendance at ringside like he was for the first fight, but he made sure not to miss the action watching it on TV alongside family and friends.

And upon seeing Taylor awarded the decision, footage emerged of the Irishman applauding and he screamed: “Yeah.”

It was clear how much the moment meant to him, as he then put his hands on his head and covered his mouth almost in disbelief.

McGregor followed up by posting an old picture of himself and Taylor on Twitter.

This came with the caption: “Two division, Irish born and bred, UNIFIED World Champions! Boxing and MMA.

“Trilogy Rematch at OUR weight in Croke Park. @KatieTaylor HUGE CONGRATS!”

Taylor is now in possession of the undisputed world titles at both 135lbs and 140lbs.

As for what’s next, in her post-fight interview Taylor called for the trilogy at the 82,400 capacity Croke Park, with her promoter Eddie Hearn saying: “It has to happen.”

Another option could be a rematch of Taylor’s epic 2022 bout against seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano, with the first fight having ended in a split decision win for the Irishwoman.
