'Bad look for boxing' – Andy Murray makes bold claim after Tyson Fury's controversial victory over Francis Ngannou

Andy Murray believes Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou’s fight was a ‘bad look for boxing’.

The Gypsy King claimed a controversial split-decision victory over former UFC star Ngannou in the crossover clash in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

One judge gave Ngannou the win with a 95-94 score, but was overruled by the other two officials who awarded Fury scorecards of 96-93 and 95-94 respectively.

That was despite Fury being knocked down in the third round as boxing newbie Ngannou went toe-to-toe with the heavyweight icon.

Many fans were left outraged by the decision to give Fury the win.

Now, it seems even British tennis icon Murray was unimpressed by the outcome, comparing the fight to a crossover between the best stars in tennis and squash.

Taking to X after the fight, the Scot – who wrote is preparing to compete in the Paris Masters on Monday – said: “How many points would the world no1 squash player win vs the world number 1 tennis player in a tennis match and vice versa?

“I’m thinking close to zero for both….bad look for boxing.”

Prior to the fight, Fury had signed a deal with fellow heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk to fight for all the belts, with the pair expected to face off on December 23 in Saudi Arabia.

But that long-awaited clash with Usyk was almost put in jeopardy on Saturday, as many people thought Ngannou beat Fury.
