But the ex-UFC champion took way longer than necessary to recognise one of the most famous music stars on the planet.
Footage has shown Ngannou nearly walking straight past Eminem, who was waiting to greet the Cameroonian in Saudi Arabia.
That’s after the Real Slim Shady went to painstaking lengths to tell everyone what his name is back in 1999.
An official taps the former MMA star on the shoulder and points him in Eminem’s direction.
Ngannou quickly understands his mistake and rushes to embrace the superstar rapper.
The fighter’s face was a picture of awkwardness and even those around him looked a little tense.
Eminem was joined by some of the biggest names in sport at the pre-fight event in Riyadh.
Ngannou’s fellow MMA stars and legends such as Israel Adesanya, Frank Mir, Junior Dos Santos and Randy Couture will join Conor McGregor at the event.
From the world of WWE, The Undertaker will be attending the fight.
And of course, a huge number of current boxing world champions and historic legends have made the trip.
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather may reunite at Fury vs Ngannou after staging the richest fight in history in 2015.
Heavyweight icons Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield are also going to be at the bout, with Tyson working as Ngannou’s trainer.
But the centre of attention appeared to be Cristiano Ronaldo as the superstar footballer, and Riyadh resident, mingled with all the distinguished guests in his new home city.
