Joshua has earned some huge purses during his time in the sport, having fought the likes of Oleksandr Usyk, Wladimir Klitschko and Andy Ruiz for staggering sums.

Meanwhile, Ngannou has switched to boxing in search of higher earnings, which he has already seen in his debut against Tyson Fury.

We at talkSPORT.COM have calculated how much both fighters will earn per punch, based on the reported fight purses for this fight, and how many punches they threw in their last appearance.

Francis Ngannou

According to The Sun, Ngannou earned a guaranteed purse of £8.2million before pay-per-view revenue and gate receipts for his last showdown with Fury in Saudi Arabia.

The Cameroon star threw 231 punches in the fight which went the ten-round distance, despite him threatening to cause a huge upset.

Calculations reveal that Ngannou earned around £35,498 per punch in the dust-up, which is a staggering sum in comparison to his days in the UFC.

He is now set to bank almost double the amount, with reports suggesting he will earn £15.75m for his upcoming clash with Joshua.

If Ngannou is to last the ten-round schedule distance with the same 231 punch output as his last outing, he will pocket an incredible £68,182 per punch.

His remarkable achievement to gain two mega-money fights in a short space of time, and will set him in good stead irrespective of the results.

Anthony Joshua

A report from The Sun indicated that Joshua earned a guaranteed purse of £8m for his recent win over Otto Wallin, before pay-per-view revenue and gate receipts.

The former two-time champion threw 165 punches in the fight, which ended in the seventh round as he forced a brutal stoppage.

It saw the 34-year-old earn a sensational £48,485 per punch on the night, having had a shorter night than Ngannou.

Joshua has increased his purse significantly for his clash with Ngannou, and is reported to pocket a guaranteed purse of £39.5m.

Joshua and Ngannou could be in for a rich night

If he is to throw the same output of 165 punches in his upcoming test, Joshua would earn an incredible £239,394 per punch.

This would of course depend on how long the fight lasts, given AJ stopped Wallin in the seventh period – five before the 12-round full distance.

Should he last the ten-round affair in total, this number could be diminished if his output is more.
